Nana Nkansah Buadu, Chief of Agric Nzema in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region, has criticised former Chief of Staff and senior New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Kojo Mpiani, accusing him of not doing enough to support the party.
The chief claimed that Kojo Mpiani has provided little support to the NPP, especially in his own constituency, despite his long-standing position as a senior member of the party.
He also accused the former Chief of Staff of engaging in actions that do not help the party.
According to Nana Nkansah Buadu, Kojo Mpiani’s total financial contribution to the NPP throughout his years in the party amounts to only GH¢700.
“I am disappointed in one of the elders. Yesterday, he attended the Steering Committee meeting even though he is not a member of the committee.
“Former Chief of Staff Kojo Mpiani controlled everything when he was in office. He comes from Yamoase. Ask him what support he has given to the party or to his constituency over the years.
“From the beginning until now, the only support Kojo Mpiani has given the party is GH¢700. If he thinks I am lying, he should come out and deny it,” he said.
The comments follow the cancellation of the NPP constituency executive elections in Afigya Sekyere East.
Nana Nkansah Buadu, who is Chairman of the Council of Elders for the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency and a member of the Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the NPP, defended the election process.
He insisted that the election was conducted according to the party’s rules and legal procedures, with no irregularities recorded.
He questioned the decision by the NPP to cancel the results and order a fresh election.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, the chief accused the party’s national leadership of having interests in some constituencies where elections were cancelled.
He warned that no new constituency executive election would be allowed to take place in Afigya Sekyere East.
Nana Nkansah Buadu also cautioned the NPP General Secretary against continuing to challenge him, saying he would reveal certain matters publicly if the situation continued.
He maintained that nobody would be allowed to organise fresh constituency executive elections in Afigya Sekyere East despite the party’s decision to invalidate the earlier results.
