NSCDC nabs two suspected vandals in Kano

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected vandals in separate operations in Kumbotso and Nassarawa Local Government Areas of the state.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, confirmed the arrest of the suspects while briefing newsmen at the state command’s headquarters in Kano on Monday.

“Our operatives arrested two suspected vandals in separate intelligence-led operations carried out at Panshekara in Kumbotso Local Government Area and Yankaba in Nassarawa Local Government Area of Kano State.

He said the operational success was recorded as a result of the command’s sustained efforts to protect critical national assets and infrastructure across the 44 local government areas of the state.

He gave the names of the suspects as Gath Gamaliel, 22, from Zango, Kaduna State, and Salisu Jibrin, 31, a resident of Kurna, Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.

“Gath Gamaliel was found in possession of 17 vandalised railway clips at Panshekara, while Salisu Jibrin, a suspected receiver of stolen property, was apprehended at Yankaba when he turned up to collect the suspected vandalised approximately 60 kilograms of copper wire,” he said.

According to him, all the items were believed to have been illegally removed from public infrastructure.

Agalama said the arrests demonstrated the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating vandalism and other economic crimes that threaten national development.

He said investigations were ongoing to uncover other members of the criminal syndicates, after which the suspects would be charged to court.

The NSCDC boss urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to safeguard the nation’s critical national assets and infrastructure.
