The Kano State Police Command has detained a suspect in connection with the d£ath of an unidentified man whose body was found inside an unoccupied house in the Badawa area of the state.
The deceased, believed to be around 28 years old, was discovered with a deep injury to his neck, which residents suspect may have led to his d£ath before help could reach him.
A resident of the area, Yusuf Da’u Ibrahim, said the incident came to light after a neighbour alerted the ward head that a badly injured man was inside a vacant house and needed urgent assistance.
He said police had already been notified before emergency responders arrived, and that officers moved swiftly to the scene, arrested a suspect and evacuated the body to the hospital.
He added that residents did not recognise the victim and described the incident as the first of its kind to occur in the neighbourhood.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said he had not yet received a detailed report on the matter, but assured that the command would investigate to establish exactly what happened.
