Two Police Officers Killed as Imo Command Opens Investigation Into Fatal Crash

The Imo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into a road accident involving seven of its operatives, which resulted in the d£ath of two officers in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson for the command, Henry Okoye, disclosed this yesterday.
According to him, seven police operatives were involved in a road crash on Monday, June 29, along the Amakalu–Umuelemma Road in Isiala Mbano, with two officers later dying from injuries sustained in the accident.
Okoye said the State Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, had ordered a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, while also extending his condolences to the families of the deceased.
The identities of the affected officers were not disclosed.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident, which occurred while the personnel were on official duty.
It noted that two of the officers succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment, while the remaining injured personnel are currently receiving care, with the Commissioner directing that all necessary medical and welfare support be extended to them.
On behalf of the command, the Commissioner conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of the deceased, describing their loss as a painful one for both the command and the wider police force, and stressing that their dedication and sacrifice in the line of duty would not be forgotten.
He also prayed for the full and speedy recovery of the injured officers and assured their families of the command’s continued support during this difficult period, reaffirming that officer welfare remains a top priority.
The command said a thorough investigation has begun to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident, and appealed to members of the public to keep the affected families and injured personnel in their thoughts and prayers.
