Russia Overtakes Germany as World’s Fifth-Largest Beer Producer

Russia has surpassed Germany to become the world’s fifth-largest beer producer after recording a significant increase in output in 2025, while German production continued to decline.
According to industry data, Russia brewed more than 90 million hectolitres of beer during the year, overtaking Germany, whose production fell by 5.6 percent to approximately 80 million hectolitres.
The development marks a notable shift in the global brewing industry, with Germany—long regarded as one of the world’s leading beer-producing nations—slipping behind Russia in total production.
Industry analysts attribute Russia’s rise to increased domestic production and sustained demand, while Germany’s decline has been linked to changing consumer habits, demographic trends, and broader challenges facing the country’s brewing sector.
The latest figures place Russia fifth among the world’s largest beer-producing countries, highlighting the changing dynamics of the global beer market.
