‘Serious case of lie-abetes’: MAGA pundit slammed after downplaying Trump polling slump

A CNN panel piled on a MAGA pundit who downplayed a key reason polls show that Americans disapprove of Trump.

The panel, hosted by CNN anchor Abby Phillip, was discussing why Trump’s approval ratings were underwater on key issues with a few months to go before the midterms. When immigration came up, MAGA commentator Jason Rantz found himself in a corner as the panel shut him down.

Democratic political strategist Antjuan Seawright said, “Americans see the $70 billion slush fund Republicans gave to ICE, and they see people being murdered.”

“Not a single American who was polled there was pointing directly to that,” Rantz said. “I guarantee you.”

Seawright rejected the argument. He said that the conversations Americans are having about immigration right now center around “ICE killing people in cold blood, in the streets, on camera.”

However, Rantz shook his head at Seawright as he spoke and rejected that ICE killed anyone in cold blood. As Rantz shook his head, Democratic strategist Christine Quinn yelled, “It did happen!” Rantz kept shaking his head, though, saying, “No,” as Quinn repeated, “It did happen.”

“No, you’re interpreting certain instances in which people have been killed,” Rantz said. “But this idea that they’re being murdered in cold blood.”

Quinn shouted, “Renee Good and Alex Pretti,” before Rantz could finish his statement, referring to the two people who were fatally shot by federal immigration enforcement in Minneapolis in January. Rantz argued that Good “almost ran over an ICE agent, which we all saw.”

Seawright told Rantz he was “suffering from a serious case of lie-abetes,” playing on the word diabetes.
