Sultan leads northern traditional rulers, Islamic scholars in Kaduna peace meeting

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, on Tuesday led prominent traditional rulers and Islamic scholars from across Northern Nigeria to a high-level meeting of the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the closed door meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Sultan, who is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation.
The meeting focused on strengthening peace, national unity, education, healthcare delivery and humanitarian support for vulnerable communities.
Among the traditional rulers at the meeting were the Emir of Zazzau and Chairman of the Kaduna State Council of Emirs and Chiefs, Malam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli; the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi; the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar; the Emir of Bauchi and Chairman, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu; the Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammad Mera; and the Etsu Pategi, Alhaji Umaru Ishaq Bawa.
Also in attendance were the National Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Bala Lau; Sheikh Ibrahim Dahiru Usman; the Secretary-General of JIBWIS, Sheikh Kabir Gombe; and the Secretary-General of Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Dr Khalid Aliyu.
NAN reports that the participants deliberated on strategies to enhance collaboration among traditional institutions, religious leaders and other stakeholders in addressing security concerns, promoting peaceful coexistence, expanding access to education and healthcare, and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Sultan Foundation for Peace and Development has continued to implement interventions in peacebuilding, girl-child education, primary healthcare, nutrition and humanitarian support for vulnerable communities across Nigeria.
