Tinubu to deliver 10 more FCT projects before December, says Wike

President Bola Tinubu will inaugurate between eight and 10 additional projects in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, before December, as part of efforts to fulfil promises made to residents, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has said.

Mr Wike gave the assurance on Monday in Abuja after inspecting the ongoing Apo-Karshi and Bwari-Kubwa road projects, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure across the nation’s capital.

The minister recalled the inauguration of 31 completed projects and new ones within 28 days across the FCT, emphasising that there would be no slowdown in project execution.

According to him, several strategic infrastructure projects are expected to be completed before the end of Mr Tinubu’s first term in office on May 29, 2027.

“We are taking public confidence in the Tinubu administration for granted. The FCT Administration will continue to monitor contractors to ensure projects are delivered on schedule.

“Tinubu’s first tenure will end precisely on May 29, 2027. If that is the case, it means the work has not ended,” he said.

Mr Wike said that commitments were made during recent project inaugurations and groundbreaking ceremonies that key infrastructure projects would be completed before the end of the year, adding that the administration must not disappoint residents.

 “When people have confidence in you, don’t allow that confidence to erode. They have seen that we keep our promises, and we must sustain that confidence.

“We have about eight to 10 major projects that must be completed before January, and we are determined to deliver,” he said.

Expressing satisfaction with progress on the Apo-Karshi Road project, Mr Wike observed that the road, originally awarded in 2010, had suffered years of neglect before being revived by the current administration.

He commended Tinubu for providing the support needed to move the project forward and lauded the contractor for maintaining a high standard of work.

“My happiness today is that the Apo-Karshi Road, which has been a major concern, is progressing very well with streetlights already being installed.

“I commend the contractor and the host communities for their cooperation,” he said.

On the Bwari-Kubwa Road project, the minister cautioned against delays and directed the contractor to adhere strictly to the agreed completion timeline in spite of challenges posed by the terrain.

“I told the contractor during the Dei-Dei commissioning that this road would be commissioned before the end of the year. I don’t want anybody shifting the goalposts.

“They have demonstrated commitment, and I believe they will hand over the project as scheduled,” he added.

Mr Wike assured contractors that the FCT Administration would continue to release funds promptly to ensure uninterrupted work and timely completion of projects before the end of the dry season.
