Two Terrorist Commanders Surrender to Nigerian Army in Borno

The Nigerian Army has announced the surrender of two senior t3rrorist commanders to troops of Operation HADIN KAI in Borno State, saying the suspects have provided valuable intelligence expected to support ongoing operations against insurgents in the North-East.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI.

According to the Army, the two commanders surrendered to troops of Sector 2 in Geidam on July 4, 2026, before arriving in Maiduguri at about 7:30pm on July 5, where they currently remain in military custody.

The statement identified the surrendered suspects as holding notable positions within the t3rrorist leadership structure, noting that they are currently undergoing detailed profiling, debriefing, and intelligence exploitation.

Preliminary interrogation reportedly showed that the pair occupied influential positions and possess extensive knowledge of the group’s operational activities, command arrangements, and logistics architecture.

The Army added that initial intelligence obtained from the debriefing has provided valuable insight into the t3rrorists’ operational methods, sustainment mechanisms, and support networks, noting that the information would significantly enhance ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at locating, disrupting, and dismantling remaining t3rrorist enclaves across the North East theatre.

Describing the surrender as another blow to the insurgents, the military said the development represents a major setback for the t3rrorist faction and further validates the effectiveness of the sustained offensive operations being carried out by troops of Operation HADIN KAI.

According to the statement, sustained land and air offensives, backed by enhanced intelligence operations, have continued to restrict the t3rrorists’ movement, weaken their fighting capability, and disrupt their command structures.

The Army stated that t3rrorist leaders and fighters are finding continued resistance untenable, compelling them to abandon the insurgency and surrender to troops, adding that the latest development further reinforces the growing disintegration of the t3rrorist organisation.

Operation HADIN KAI reiterated its commitment to sustaining the offensive against insurgents, stating that troops would continue to exploit actionable intelligence, intensify offensive operations, and work in close collaboration with relevant stakeholders to eliminate the t3rrorist threat and restore enduring peace, security, and stability across the North East.

The surrender comes as the military continues its counter-insurgency campaign in the North-East, with Operation HADIN KAI intensifying intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling the remaining t3rrorist enclaves in the region.
