We thought it was AI, Akpabio taunts Oshiomhole over viral private jet leg massage video

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Thursday mocked Senator Adams Oshiomhole over the viral video allegedly showing him massaging a woman’s leg aboard a private jet, saying the Senate initially ignored the footage because it was suspected to have been generated using artificial intelligence (AI).
Recall that a video which surfaced on X on February 3, 2026, sparked widespread reactions after it allegedly showed the former Edo State governor and senator representing Edo North massaging a woman’s leg inside a private jet.
Days later the lawmaker denied its authenticity, describing it as a poorly crafted, AI-generated, and fabricated video intended to blackmail and embarrass him.
His camp condemned its circulation as cyberbullying, urged the public to verify online content before sharing it, and said efforts were underway to identify those responsible.
Speaking during the Thursday plenary session, Akpabio brought up the widely circulated clip and playfully referenced Oshiomhole’s earlier defense.
He said with a slight humour “Okay I don’t want to go outside what we are doing, I would have asked a question when there was a picture showing one of our senators on a plane massaging the leg of a girl.
“Senator Oshimole and that your very good friend came to give me security information that we just ignored the massage because we thought it was AI but if you have another evidence, we have a petition before us, we can look if it’s not AI.”
The joke caused massive amusement among lawmakers, putting the viral incident into official Senate records.
