World Cup: You’ve lifted hopes of Africa – Atiku congratulates Morocco

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Morocco national football team on their 3-0 victory over Canada men’s national soccer team and their historic qualification for the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a post on X on Sunday, Atiku described Morocco’s victory as well deserved, noting that the team had become the first African nation to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 tournament.
He said the achievement had inspired the entire continent and reaffirmed Africa’s place on the global football stage.
“Congratulations to Morocco on a deserved 3-0 victory over Canada and on becoming the first African team to reach the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“You have once again lifted the hopes of an entire continent and reminded the world that African football belongs on the biggest stage,” he wrote.
