Zamfara gov suspends five ZAMCHEMA officials over alleged misconduct

The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has suspended five officials of the Zamfara State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (ZAMCHEMA) over alleged financial misconduct and insubordination.
The Head of Service, Dr Shehu Usman Hassan, in a statement, named the suspended officials and their portfolios as the Director of Finance, Mannir Sani; Director of Administration, Hauwa’u Tanimu; Deputy Director of Finance, Nafiu Sulaiman; Accountant, Yunusa Muhammad; and Hambali Isah.
According to the statement, the governor has directed the State Auditor-General to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegations, adding that the administration remains committed to justice, fairness, and adherence to the rule of law, particularly in the treatment of civil servants.
In a related development, the governor approved the appointment of Ibrahim Sani as Special Assistant on Sign Language Interpretation.
The statement said the appointment is part of the administration’s commitment to inclusive governance and would improve communication between government and persons with hearing impairment.
It added that the appointment is in line with the provisions of the Zamfara State Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Law.
“Sani is a certified sign language interpreter and trained special education teacher. He previously served as Vice Principal (Academics) at the School for Special Education, Gusau, and currently serves as the North-West Zonal Coordinator of the Association of Sign Language Interpreters of Nigeria (ASLIN).”
