23-Year-Old Law Student Dies After Fall at Lagos Hostel

The Nigerian Law School has confirmed the d£ath of a 23-year-old student, Faith Alayande, following a fall from the rooftop of its Lagos Campus residential facility while participating in an externship programme.

The institution released a statement through its Secretary to the Council and Director of Administration, Aderonke O. Osho, confirming the incident.

Alayande, enrolled at the Nigerian Law School’s Enugu Campus, was temporarily housed at the Lagos facility for the duration of her externship placement.

The incident occurred approximately 4 am on Friday, August 7, 2026. According to preliminary information, the student fell from the hostel rooftop and subsequently succumbed to injuries sustained in the fall.

The Law School stated it is collaborating with appropriate authorities and the deceased’s family to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Lagos State Police Command had previously confirmed the occurrence after the hostel matron reported the matter upon discovering the student unresponsive on the premises.

Police operatives attended the scene, secured the remains and transferred the body to a morgue while investigations commenced.

The incident came to light after a roommate and a relative discovered a note reportedly written by Alayande and initiated a search, following which she was discovered unresponsive after the fall.

The Law School expressed profound sadness regarding the d£ath and extended condolences to the deceased’s family, fellow students and others affected by the loss.

The institution appealed to the public and media to respect the family’s desire for privacy during their mourning period, requesting that all parties refrain from actions that might intensify the family’s d£istress during this challenging time.
