‘Bottomless pit of need’: Trump mocked after claiming victory at his own golf tournament

President Donald Trump was ridiculed by critics on Sunday after he claimed victory at one of his golf tournaments.

Trump, 80, bragged on Truth Social that he won the Bedminster Club Championship with a final-round score of 70, or two under par. The tournament was hosted at the golf club he owns in New Jersey, the same place where he also claimed to have won the Men’s Senior Club Championship in 2025.

Trump shared a video of his “winning shot” on Truth Social.

“Thank you very much to all of those who participated,” Trump wrote in a post accompanying the video. “I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I’m given very little time to practice, because I’m focused on many other things. It’s called TALENT, and I have it, and they don’t!”

The president’s critics roasted him on social media.

“A bottomless pit of need,” Norm Wilner, a writer and podcaster, posted on Bluesky.

“No previous president in history has ever spoken like this,” Mehdi Hasan, founder of Zeteo News, posted on X. “If someone in your social circle spoke like this, you would distance yourself from them. Over 70 million people voted for this guy. I will never ever get over that.”

“Every time I think he can’t get more pathetic, he manages to prove me wrong,” Jennifer Erin Valent, an award-winning author, posted on X.

“‘I’m going to be working for you,’ he told a campaign rally crowd in August 2016. ‘I’m not going to have time to play golf,’” Brian McKeon, a former national security official for the Obama and Biden administrations, posted on X.
