Kano gov mourns political singer Kosan Waka

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has mourned the death of renowned Hausa political singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka, who died on Sunday at the age of 47.

The governor’s condolence message was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa.

According to the statement, the family said the singer would be buried in his hometown of Tsanni, Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, by 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Yusuf extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, particularly his mother, as well as his friends, associates, admirers and the people of Kano State.

“The late Kosan Waka was a Kano-based patriotic son of Katsina whose music transcended politics and served as a powerful tool for promoting unity, culture and public enlightenment,” the governor said.

Yusuf described the deceased as one of Kano’s most celebrated political singers, whose talent, creativity and captivating performances earned him admiration across the country.

According to him, Kosan Waka’s contributions to political communication and the Hausa entertainment industry would remain enduring.

“His contributions to the growth of political communication and Hausa entertainment will remain indelible. His talent and creativity touched countless lives and earned him admiration across Nigeria,” the governor added.

The governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give his family the strength to bear the loss.

“We join the entertainment industry and millions of admirers across Nigeria in mourning this painful loss, and we pray that Allah grants him eternal rest,” Yusuf said.

Kosan Waka, who was known for songs on politics, governance and social issues, died after a brief illness at the age of 47.
