Davido Claims He Could Win Any Nigerian Election

Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has claimed that no one could defeat him in a free and fair election in Nigeria, should he ever decide to run for political office.

He, however, said he has no interest in contesting for any elective position at the moment, citing the corrupt nature of Nigerian elections and the electoral body.

Speaking during a recent livestream with online streamer Carter Efe, Davido said he would rather focus on his music until there is genuine electoral transparency in the country.

Asked whether he would love to govern a state, Davido responded that he had no time for a system where election results were allegedly manipulated, stressing that he wasn’t the type to simply accept being cheated and go home quietly, warning that he would react if that happened to him.

He said he preferred to concentrate on his music for now, adding that he could consider contesting for elective office once there was transparency in the system.

He maintained that nobody could beat him in any election, insisting that in a truly free and fair contest, he could even win a presidential election in Nigeria.

He added that the lack of transparency in the system, where he alleged that results were manipulated, was the real problem, saying he was watching closely to see what would happen in the upcoming Osun State gubernatorial election, describing the situation as one that leaves people disillusioned.
