The Federal High Court has commenced the phased relocation of its Lagos Judicial Division from its long‑standing premises at No. 24, Oyinkan Abayomi Drive, Ikoyi, to the newly completed Federal High Court Complex at No. 1B, Bourdillon Road, Ikoyi.

The relocation exercise, which began on 31 July 2026, follows the completion of the modern court facility and is aimed at enhancing judicial administration, improving infrastructure, and providing a more conducive environment for legal practitioners, litigants, and other court users.

In a public notice, the Chief Registrar of the Federal High Court, Yahaya Shafa, confirmed that the relocation was formally approved upon completion of the new complex. He explained that the phased movement is designed to ensure a smooth transition while minimising disruption to proceedings and administrative operations.

The first phase covers Vacation Courts 7 and 12, as well as Courts 2, 3, 4, and 5, alongside the offices of the Chief Registrar, Deputy Chief Registrars, and the Electronic Litigation Registrar of Process (ELRP). The remaining courts and offices will be moved in subsequent phases.

The notice was addressed to the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), litigants, stakeholders, the Lagos State Government, and the general public, urging them to take note of the relocation and adjust accordingly.

This development marks a significant milestone for the Federal High Court in Lagos, as judicial activities gradually shift to the new Bourdillon Road complex. The facility is expected to strengthen the administration of justice, improve service delivery, and provide better working conditions for the Bench, Bar, and the wider public.

Lawyers and litigants with matters before the affected courts are advised to verify the venues of their proceedings as the relocation continues. Further announcements will be issued regarding the movement of the remaining courts and offices.
