German embassy to Nigerians: We don’t work with visa agents

The German Embassy in Nigeria has issued a strict public warning stating that it does not work with any visa agents.

In a recent public advisory, the mission strongly cautioned Nigerian applicants against relying on third-party middlemen or “visa consultants” who claim to have special access, fast-track slots, or guaranteed approvals.

The embassy stressed that all official information and application procedures for tourism, study, employment, and family visas are completely free and accessible to the public.

“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.

It also asked Nigerians to share some of the claims they had heard from “visa agents” in the comments, saying it would address them in upcoming posts.

The German mission made its position on visa agents clear, stating: “We DO NOT WORK with any ‘Visa Agents’!”

The warning comes as many Nigerians seeking to travel to Germany rely on third parties for assistance with visa applications, including tourism, study, employment and family reunification.

The embassy’s clarification means applicants should be wary of anyone claiming to represent the German Embassy or suggesting that they have special influence over visa decisions.

Official German visa information for applicants in Nigeria is available through the German Missions in Nigeria.
