Former Ada East Assemblyman Noah Dogah has explained the incident that led to his famous “Go and ask your grandfather” response.
Dogah became an internet sensation after making the statement during an emotional interview in 2017.
He was recently spotted and asked to explain what happened before the interview.
According to Dogah, the incident occurred during a voting exercise.
After voting ended, the presiding member called Dogah and several others to help sort the ballot papers.
However, Dogah claimed that a group of masked men rushed towards the ballot box as he approached it.
He alleged that the men seized the box and took it away from the venue.
The ballot box was later returned, but there were claims that someone had tampered with the ballot papers.
The situation became heated as Dogah questioned what had happened.
“I said, where is the BM? Matter come. We will not defend this,” he recounted.
Dogah said he raised concerns and sought legal help because he believed the incident required proper investigation.
His animated interview after the event later went viral.
The phrase “Go and ask your grandfather” quickly became popular across Ghana and inspired memes, jokes and imitations.
Dogah also shared his thoughts about leadership and patience.
“When a fruit is on a tree, the acidic content in it is high,” he explained.
He said people seeking leadership positions must allow themselves time to gain maturity and experience before taking responsibility.
Years later, “Go and ask your grandfather” remains the statement that made Noah Dogah one of Ghana’s most recognised viral personalities.
