Ibadan Market Goes Up in Flames as Millions of Naira in Goods Are Lost

A fire outbreak destroyed merchandise valued at several million naira at Gbagi Market in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident occurred at a commercial zone within Bola Ige International Market, with the blaze igniting around midday on Monday before being extinguished.
The fire engulfed portions of the market, affecting multiple commercial establishments and consuming significant quantities of goods. No fatalities were recorded during the incident.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service confirmed the occurrence on Tuesday, indicating that firefighting teams discovered two of a nine-shop row fully aflame upon arrival.
Emergency personnel rapidly initiated suppression operations, containing the spread to adjacent structures and surrounding property.
Investigations remain underway to establish the fire’s origin and underlying causes.
