Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has described former governor of the state, Sen. Jonah Jang, as his “role model”.

Mr Mutfwang said this during the public presentation of Jang’s autobiography to commemorate his 80th birthday, on Saturday, in Jos.

Mr Mutfwang, who described Jang as a committed and delibrate elder statesman, thanked him for “supporting and fine-tuning” his political journey so far.

The governor, who promised to honour Jang all his life, said the legacies and leadership style of Jang, a former military governor of Benue and old Gongola states, remained “indelible”.

“I am privileged and highly honoured to be alive to see this day and to have the privilege of being the chief host as you celebrate your 80th birthday.

“I have looked for opportunities to show you my honour, and I’m glad that today God has given me the opportunity to fulfill this pledge that I’ve made to God; that as long as I’m alive, I will honour you.

“This is not because of the role you played in my life to become the governor of Plateau, but you became to me a role model to follow.

“I thank God for the privilege to come close to you and I will never take it for granted,” he said.

The governor also commended Jang for laying a solid foundation, particularly in areas of infrastructure and quality leadership style towards the growth of Plateau.

Mr Mutfwang, promised to sustain the good legacies that Jang left behind, insisting that his administration had taken delibrate steps to complete all the strategic projects Jang couldn’t complete during his tenure.

The governor called on the younger generation to take a queue from Jang toward becoming nation builders.

The autobiography is titled “Airman to Politics: My Life”.
