Getting a Nigerian driver’s licence has become simpler.
People can now start the application process online before going to a Driver’s Licence Centre to complete their biometric capture and registration.
The new online system lets drivers submit personal details, make payments and schedule their appointments from home.
This means less time wasted waiting at physical centres.
Before applying, applicants must attend a driving school accredited by the FRSC and get a certificate from the school.
They also need a National Identification Number, a valid means of identification and a passport photograph.
Once all stages are completed, drivers receive a temporary licence good for 60 days while the permanent one is being processed.
To apply, go to nigeriadriverslicence.org on a computer.
If using a phone, switch to Desktop Site to see the portal properly.
Select DL Application and choose New Driver’s Licence. Enter your driving school certificate number and provide personal information.
Make sure all names and details match what is attached to your NIN because this is important for verification.
Next, pick a preferred FRSC Driver’s Licence Centre and book an appointment for biometric capture.
Payment can be made through the Remita gateway on the official portal using a card, bank transfer or USSD.
It is crucial to pay only through the official website and never send money to individuals or unofficial agents claiming to help with applications.
After payment, print the receipt and attend the biometric appointment on the scheduled date.
Bring original documents for verification and biometric capture.
