The APC governorship candidate in Osun State has acknowledged the Independent National Electoral Commission’s decision following his defeat by the incumbent governor.
Oyebamiji expressed this position three days after the August 15 election, in which the incumbent secured 511,067 votes compared to his 444,815 votes.
The candidate commended APC supporters and party figures across the state for their backing, expressing gratitude to those who embraced the electoral alternative his campaign presented.
Although hoping for a different result, he indicated respect for the electoral commission’s determination and acknowledged his party’s ongoing review of the election outcome.
Oyebamiji emphasised that the campaign’s conclusion did not signal the end of the principles his candidacy championed.
He stated that the values and causes advanced throughout the electoral process remained operant and that he would persist in advocating for effective, broad-based and accelerated development within the state.
He urged his supporters to maintain peace and active community engagement, appealing to them to continue pursuing the collective welfare of Osun State.
He nevertheless registered concerns regarding reported violence directed at APC members and backers, characterising the situation as having intensified following the election.
He alleged that post-election incidents had expanded in scale and scope, specifically within the preceding 24-hour period.
Oyebamiji appealed to the Nigeria Police Force and allied security organisations to intervene, urging his supporters to remain composed whilst conducting their daily activities.
He extended thanks to voters, volunteers, party operatives and administrators who participated in his campaign, expressing pride in the electoral effort undertaken and gratitude for their confidence.
