Residents scoop fuel after tanker spills content on Lagos-Ibadan expressway

Dozens of residents were seen scooping fuel after a tanker spilled its contents along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, close to the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road.
Videos from the scene showed men and women rushing to the area with buckets, jerrycans and other containers to collect the spilt fuel.
Some of the residents were seen scooping the petroleum product from drainage channels and other areas where it had accumulated, despite the risk of fire or explosion.
The incident attracted the presence of officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps, as well as personnel of the Federal and State Fire Services, who moved to contain the situation and prevent further danger.
The presence of the emergency responders was aimed at securing the scene and managing the risks posed by the spilt fuel, particularly as residents continued to gather around the area.
