Sowore warns Nigerians against Atiku's fuel subsidy claims

African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has cautioned Nigerians not to fall for what he says are false claims by Atiku Abubakar about fuel subsidy.

Sowore said on social media that the AAC was the only party that had stuck to its position against removing the subsidy while other politicians kept changing their stance.

Atiku, the presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress, has promised to bring back the fuel subsidy programme if he wins the 2027 election.

He argues that President Tinubu’s decision to remove the subsidy has not helped Nigeria and has caused more harm.

Responding to Atiku’s position, Sowore accused him and his group of trying to deceive Nigerians.

He said the AAC had been consistent on the subsidy issue while establishment politicians kept shifting their positions based on what was convenient or what foreign interests wanted.

Sowore claimed that it was the AAC’s strong stance at the Nigerian Bar Association conference in Port Harcourt that forced the Tinubu government to take action.

He warned that Atiku and other politicians should not be allowed to rewrite history or suddenly present themselves as the real opposition now.

“Don’t let Atiku Abubakar and his clowning group deceive you about fuel subsidy.

We have been consistent on this issue, while these establishment politicians keep shifting positions according to political convenience and foreign capitalist control.

They should not be allowed to rewrite history,” Sowore said.
