VIDEO: Former Vice President Osinbajo Visits Amaechi

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has paid a condolence visit to former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi following the death of his mother, Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi.
Osinbajo visited Amaechi earlier on Sunday to sympathise with him and his family over the passing of the family matriarch.
The visit comes as political leaders from across the country continue to troop to Amaechi’s Abuja residence to express their condolences.
Osinbajo and Amaechi served together in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, where Osinbajo was Vice President while Amaechi served as Minister of Transportation.
The latest visit adds to the growing list of prominent Nigerians who have personally visited the former minister since the death of his mother was announced.
Last week, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, also paid a formal condolence visit to Amaechi at his Abuja residence. Atiku, who is running alongside Amaechi in the 2027 presidential election, was accompanied by members of his team as he sympathised with his running mate over the loss.
The visit came about two weeks after a delegation led by the Dujima of Adamawa, Alhaji Musa Halilu, visited Amaechi’s home on behalf of Atiku to deliver his condolences shortly after the family announced the death.
Amaechi has continued to receive support from political leaders, religious figures and associates since the passing of his mother.
Among those who had earlier visited him are former Senate President David Mark, Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah, former Edo State Governor and former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, former Attorney General of the Federation Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha and several leaders of the ADC.
Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi also paid a personal condolence visit to Amaechi and his wife, Dame Judith Amaechi, after earlier sending a public message of sympathy.
In his condolence message, Obi described the death of a mother as a painful experience and prayed for God to comfort the former minister and his family.
“My dear brother, I was saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved mother. Losing a parent, especially a matriarch who contributed so much to her family and community is a profound loss that words can scarcely comfort,” Obi wrote.
He added, “On behalf of my family, I extend our deepest condolences to you, the entire Amaechi family, and all who are mourning this monumental loss. May God Almighty grant her eternal rest, and may He give you and your loved ones the strength, fortitude, and peace to bear this irreparable loss.”
President Bola Tinubu also mourned the late Dame Mary Amaechi, describing her as “a champion of faith whose life was marked by humility and selfless service to humanity.”
The President said, “My heartfelt condolences to Rt. Hon. Amaechi, the entire Amaechi family, the Catholic faithful, and the government and people of Rivers State over the loss of Dame Ezinne Amaechi. May Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and comfort all who mourn her passing at this difficult time.”
Dame Ezinne Mary Oduah Amaechi died at the age of 89. Her death was announced by Amaechi’s media office, which described her as a beloved matriarch whose life was defined by faith, love, peace and unity.
