The United Action for Democracy, UAD, has urged Nigerians to reject any political party or candidates turning the country into a “disgraced country” of “particular concerns.”

Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos, the group’s secretary general, Mr. Adekunle Wiseman, called on Nigerians to reject fraudulent aspirants ahead of the 2027 general election.

He said, “We cannot continue to be governed by fake elements who brandish fake governance everywhere and, as such, destroy the livelihoods of the citizens and turn Nigeria into a ‘disgraced country’ of ‘particular concerns’,”

He further urged the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and other anti-graft agencies, including the EFCC and ICPC, to investigate political aspirants before party primaries added that, “It is disheartening that INEC, EFCC, ICPC, and others ignored the publication of documents regarding one of the South-West governor’s convictions by media platforms like Sahara Reporters.

“We are vowing never to allow such roguery to have its place anymore in our democracy. We are demanding accountability immediately.”

Wiseman, urged the attorney-general and the national security adviser to facilitate the extradition of any public officers with cases of impunity to the United States and other countries where they were previously convicted.
“We also call for the rejection of fraudulent Nigerians aspiring for public office in the coming elections,” he added.

“We cannot allow illegality perpetrated by some aspirants” to linger within our democracy ahead of 2027.

“We will continue to avail the public of further information and updates,”
