Akpabio accuses opposition of sponsoring insecurity, says terrorism will stop after elections

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has accused opposition political parties of sponsoring insecurity in the country, stating that the situation would improve after the next general election.
Mr Akpabio made the remarks on Tuesday during the official launch of the Nigerian Revenue Service Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
According to him, the administration of Bola Tinubu is performing well, alleging that political opponents have resorted to acts of violence to undermine the government.
He, however, expressed optimism that the security situation would improve after the 2027 general election.
“Insecurity is increasing because an election is coming, because people don’t know what to do again. Immediately after the election, two weeks after, the insecurity will stop. The insecurity is being sponsored by people,” he said.
The Senate President also criticised the opposition, saying it was in disarray, and referenced a political figure who, according to him, abandoned millions of votes to join another platform.
Mr Akpabio urged Nigerians to remain patient with the current administration, insisting it is on the right track.
He also commended the Chairman of the Nigerian Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji, describing him as widely accepted by Nigerians despite the general perception of tax officials.
“Even in the Bible, people don’t like tax collectors. Zacch has done very well and Nigerians are happy with him,” he added.
