Boko Haram Gives Tinubu Govt One-week Ultimatum Over 176 Abducted Women, Children

Residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State have raised fresh alarm after suspected terrorists issued a one-week ultimatum to the Nigerian government over the fate of abducted victims.

The insurgents reportedly threatened to kill or forcibly marry some of the 176 women and children in their custody if their demands are not met.

Community members said the warning was communicated through one of the abductees, who was allowed to speak with her family after a Jumu’ah prayer session with the captors.

According to sources, the victims confirmed they were still alive but disclosed that the terrorists expressed frustration over what they described as the government’s lack of response.

“They said the government is not taking the matter seriously despite the resources they are using to feed the abductees,” a resident said.

According to Sahara Reporters, the insurgents allegedly warned that if no agreement is reached within one week, they would begin to execute some of the captives and force others into marriage.

“They said if nothing is agreed, they will start marrying off some of the girls and kill those they consider liabilities,” the source added.

The development has heightened fear among families, many of whom say they are living in anxiety as the deadline approaches.

The ultimatum follows an earlier video released by the captors, in which the victims—mostly women and children—appeared weak and pleaded for rescue.

In the footage, an armed militant claimed responsibility for the abduction and said the victims had been indoctrinated.

Sources indicated that the attackers had earlier demanded ₦20 million per victim, but negotiations with authorities have stalled.

The reported deadlock has further worsened concerns about the safety of the abductees, especially children and pregnant women.

Relatives of the victims have called on the government to act swiftly to secure their release, warning that time is running out.

“We are helpless. These are our wives and children. We are just praying that something is done before it is too late,” a family member said.

The situation has left the community in deep distress, with residents urging urgent intervention to prevent a possible tragedy.
