FG introduces no new vehicle tax, says NRS

The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has dismissed claims of a newly introduced vehicle tax, describing a viral infographic circulating online as false and misleading.
In a statement, Dare Adekambi, the agency’s spokesperson said the material directing vehicle owners to pay a supposed tax from July 1 did not originate from the government.
He noted that the document, which lacked a credible source, also referenced an incorrect website, further exposing its inauthenticity.
“The NRS wishes to state categorically that the information did not emanate from the service or any government agency,” he said.
The agency urged Nigerians to disregard the message and rely only on verified official channels for information on tax policies.
