FG signs lease agreement with Delborough Hotel for 7-star project in Abuja

ABUJA — The Federal Government has signed a lease agreement with Delborough Hotel for the development of a seven-star hospitality project at the Arts Village, Abuja.

The agreement, facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Art Culture Tourism and the Creative Economy, involves the National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and Delborough Hotel.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, said the initiative forms part of the government’s broader strategy to diversify the economy through tourism development.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to building a sustainable tourism industry,” she said.
“Tourism was a key focus during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent engagement in the United Kingdom, with Abuja identified as a priority destination. If we have not developed critical infrastructure in Abuja, then we have not begun.”

The minister noted that the collaboration is aimed at positioning Nigeria as a global hospitality destination by localising international standards.

“Delborough Hotel represents a global brand synonymous with excellence. Our goal is to establish and grow such brands locally before exporting them internationally. This aligns with ongoing discussions with Mr. President on strengthening indigenous capacity for global competitiveness,” she added.

Musawa said the project reflects the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, assuring that government would provide the necessary support to ensure its success.

“As a government, we are committed to fostering ownership and enabling the private sector to thrive within the tourism and cultural industries. In the coming days, all necessary processes will be finalised to advance this project,” she said.

She also highlighted ongoing efforts to attract global partnerships, citing recent engagements aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s economic and technological ecosystem.

In his remarks, the head of the Delborough team, Stanley Uzochukwu, expressed appreciation to the ministry and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering a world-class facility.

“We are honoured to be part of this landmark initiative,” he said. “This project is not only about hospitality; it is about connecting people, enabling businesses, and creating employment opportunities. The Federal Capital Territory deserves the very best, and we are committed to delivering excellence.”
