Payaza launches ‘Chat & Pay’ feature to enable instant WhatsApp payments for businesses

For many small and medium-sized businesses, payment collection remains one of the biggest operational challenges, often involving delayed transfers, manual verification, and exposure to fraudulent alerts.
Even a great idea often isn’t enough to grow a business when payment processing remains fragmented, requiring customers to leave the chat to make payments while merchants manually verify transactions. Payaza Africa Limited has launched Chat & Pay to address these challenges by providing businesses with a dedicated WhatsApp number for payments, supported by an automated and intelligent checkout experience.
The launch of Chat & Pay enables businesses to accept and confirm payments directly within WhatsApp. It simplifies payment processing in chat-based environments by eliminating the need for manual verification, payment screenshots, and delayed confirmations. Through Chat & Pay, merchants can receive payments within WhatsApp, where customers initiate and complete transactions seamlessly.
The impact is clear. Payments are verified in real-time, improving cash flow and reducing operational stress. All transactions are tracked in real-time, providing merchants with greater visibility and control while reducing the risk of fake payment alerts. The solution is expected to improve efficiency for businesses, reduce revenue leakage, and enhance trust in digital transactions.
Speaking at the product launch, Philips Akinyele, Chief Technology Officer of Payaza Africa, noted: “Commerce today happens in conversations, but payments have lagged behind. With Chat & Pay, we are closing that gap, making it possible for businesses to complete transactions at the exact moment a customer is ready to pay. We are giving them a faster, more reliable way to get paid.”
The launch of the Chat & Pay feature reflects a broader shift toward conversational commerce, where interactions and transactions happen within the same channel. By ensuring that payments no longer lag behind conversations, Payaza is helping businesses scale and meet the needs of customers in emerging markets.
Payaza, a fintech company, provides innovative payment solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and large corporations across four continents. With operations spanning Africa, Europe, North America, and the Middle East, the company is focused on promoting financial inclusion and driving economic growth through technology-enabled financial services.
