PHOTOS: Jonathan, Peter Obi hold closed-door meeting

Former President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, on Monday held a closed-door meeting as part of Obi’s ongoing political consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The ADC Vanguard, the mobilisation wing of the African Democratic Congress coalition, posted videos and pictures of the meeting on its X handle.
It described the discussions as “high-level” and focused on the possibility of opposition parties presenting a single presidential candidate.
“Goodluck Jonathan and Peter Obi are having high-level discussions about presenting one presidential candidate for the opposition parties,” it said.
Obi was accompanied by a delegation that included Igbo elders, ADC senators from the South-East zone, and other political associates.

The development comes against the backdrop of Obi’s ongoing political engagements across Nigeria amid talks of a presidential alliance with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, both ADC chieftains.

The meeting also comes just days after opposition political parties, including a faction of Peoples Democratic Party and the ADC, held a national summit on Saturday in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Hosted by Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and chaired by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, the high-profile gathering brought together key figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi and other opposition leaders.
In the Ibadan Declaration issued at the end of the summit, participating parties resolved to forge a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress, resist what they described as moves toward a one-party state, and work toward presenting a single consensus presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
