Police strengthen deployment nationwide ahead of JAMB examination

The Nigeria Police Force said it has strengthened security deployment at the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination centres nationwide to ensure the safety of candidates.
The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, said this in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
Placid said that the force was aware of recent unfounded rumours circulating about safety at certain JAMB examination centres in the North East.
“The Nigeria Police Force wishes to categorically state that these claims are without basis.
“While the force does not act on rumours, the concerns raised by the public have been duly noted, as it concerns the safety, education, and future of our children and wards.
“To this end, extra security has been deployed at examination centres nationwide both overtly and covertly, with a view to preventing any untoward incidents,” he said.
The force image maker also said that additional security measures, including routine patrols, perimeter checks, and rapid-response teams stationed at strategic locations, were part of the measures put in place.
He said that the Nigeria Police Force was collaborating closely with sister security agencies to monitor and address potential threats effectively.
“Any individual or group attempting to disrupt the examination process will be swiftly identified and brought to justice”, he said.
He urged candidates to arrive early at their centres, adhere to examination regulations, and report any suspicious activities or persons to on-site security personnel.
Placid further enjoined the public to disregard unverified information being circulated on social media and rely solely on official updates from JAMB and the Nigeria Police Force.
According to him, the force remains committed to maintaining peace, security, and public confidence in all National activities, including the JAMB examinations.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the examination is expected to commence nationwide on Thursday.
