Security: Abia govt to revalidate community vigilante operatives

Abia State Homeland Security Agency says it will commence the validation and revalidation of local vigilante operatives in various communities across the seventeen local government areas of the state.
The agency made this known on Thursday in a notice to all Presidents-General, community heads, and other relevant stakeholders, through a statement signed by Ezinwanne Alili, its Public Relations Officer.
According to the statement, the exercise is scheduled to hold from April 23 to May 8, 2026.
The state government, which said that the exercise is aimed at strengthening community security structures across the state, urged community leaders to receive the personnel in their localities and cooperate with the exercise.
“All relevant stakeholders are hereby enjoined to be prepared to receive personnel from the agency who will be visiting communities for this purpose.”
DAILY POST recalls that a former vigilante personnel, Mr. Chinedu Anamelechi, last week shot dead a woman and stabbed two others before committing suicide at Okporouzu Elu Elu, Amakama, Umuahia South LGA of the state.
