Sunday Katung, the senator for the Kaduna South Senatorial District, has officially announced that he plans to run for reelection in the general elections of 2027.
Additionally, Katung supported Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and President Bola Tinubu, who are expected to run for reelection.
The statement was made by the legislator during a meeting in Abuja with the All Progressives Congress Local Government Chairmen from his senatorial district.
In a statement released on Friday by his Special Advisor on Media and Communications, Midat Joseph, Katung stated that he decided to run again because he needed to finish current projects throughout Southern Kaduna and build on his previous accomplishments.
The senator was cited as saying, “I am seeking a second term to consolidate on the gains we have made, complete ongoing initiatives, and continue to provide quality representation to our people.”
Katung further connected his goal to the Federal and Kaduna State governments’ larger policy direction, pointing out that the Tinubu administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda and the Uba Sani government’s development blueprint needed seasoned lawmakers to spearhead grassroots implementation.
He emphasized the significance of preserving political unity inside the ruling party and called on party stakeholders to step up mobilization efforts in front of the 2027 elections.
“Unity, dedication, and strategic mobilization are necessary for the task at hand.
He continued, “Southern Kaduna must continue to be firmly in line with the APC in order to protect and build upon the developmental advancements already documented.”
Additionally, the senator reassured party leaders of his dedication to unity, inclusive governance, and long-term development throughout the eight local government districts that comprise the Kaduna South Senatorial District.
As a first-term senator, Katung has actively participated in legislative and constituency initiatives to enhance the zone’s social services and infrastructure.
