Shekari declares for Reps seat under PDP in Zangon Kataf/Jaba

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Rijo Shekari, has declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency.

Shekari, who recently returned to the PDP, made the declaration on Friday during separate engagements across Zangon Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas, attracting party faithful, stakeholders, and supporters.

Addressing the gatherings, the aspirant said his ambition is driven by a desire to deepen grassroots development, promote inclusive representation, and deliver sustainable impact across the constituency.

He stressed that leadership must remain people-centred, noting that his decision to rejoin the PDP was informed by a commitment to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and development agenda.

Highlighting some of his interventions, Shekari said he sponsored nine students studying Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine at the University of Jos, supported 240 women with capital to boost small-scale businesses, and facilitated the drilling of seven boreholes in 2025 through his initiatives, including Kamrum Integrated Farms.

He pledged that, if elected, his focus would be on rural transformation, agro-entrepreneurship, youth empowerment, and mentorship programmes aimed at building self-reliant communities.

According to him, Zangon Kataf and Jaba possess vast human and natural resources that require purposeful and responsive representation to unlock their full potential.

“My vision is anchored on inclusiveness, accountability, and sustainable development,” he said.

Speakers at the event urged political associates of aspirants to offer honest and value-driven counsel, stressing that leadership success depends on integrity and sincerity.

Party stakeholders and members expressed confidence in Shekari’s return to the PDP, describing him as a grassroots politician with a track record of community impact, and called for unity ahead of the elections.

The declaration was received with enthusiasm as Shekari formally joined the race for the House of Representatives seat under the PDP.
