Sky News interrupted for major King Charles and Donald Trump announcement

Sky News was abruptly halted for a major announcement involving King Charles and Donald Trump. The breaking news banners flashed across the bottom of the screen, showing live footage of the monarch and Queen Camilla being welcomed to the White House in Washington, DC, by the President and First Lady Melania. The clip, which saw Charles shaking hands with a procession of people alongside Camilla, played as a commentator said: “But first the King and Queen get the chance to meet all those members of the President’s cabinet…” Trump was then seen shaking hands with the King’s staff, including his Private Secretary and Ambassador, Sir Christian Turner.
Trump, wearing a signature navy suit with a red tie, was then filmed escorting Charles up some steps to a podium. The men were followed by their wives, both in very light jackets and skirts, paired with white hats for the historic occasion.
The four of them then stood in a line as a live band played before them, with the Great British and United States of America flags blowing in the background.
Charles and Camilla are embarking on a four-day tour to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States of America. Currently, they are in Washington, but are due to visit New York on the third day to commemorate the anniversay of the 9/11 attacks.
Earlier this afternoon, Trump gave a speech about the UK and USA’s deep connection as he reflected on Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt meeting on a ship in the North Atlantic “to outline a vision for the free world after World War Two”.
Trump said: “That understanding of our nations’ unique bond and role in history is the essence of our special relationship, and we hope it will always remain that way.
“Let us go forward with an even stronger resolve to carry on our sacred devotion to liberty and to the traditions of excellence that have been the shared gift of all mankind.”
The President also joked that his Scottish mother once “had a crush” on Charles when he was the Prince of Wales.
