So What Will Happen Next? – Gov. Makinde Speaks On Impeachment Plot Against Him

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has weighed in on the controversy trailing the alleged impeachment plot against him.

Naija News recalls that a few days ago, reports circulated online that former First Lady of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, allegedly met with the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Adebowale Ogundoyin, over plans to impeach Makinde.

However, speaking at the inauguration of key committees set up to drive the state’s long-term tourism development and to prepare for the International Tourism Summit 2026 on Thursday, Makinde downplayed the impeachment plot.

He said, “So this administration will come to an end in one year and one month.

“So what will happen next? Well, that is if I am not impeached then.

“Today, we inaugurated two committees, the Organising Committee for the International Tourism Summit Oyo State 2026 (#ITSOyoState2026) which will hold next month 12-14 May 2026.

“The 25-Year Tourism Master Plan Committee, a forward-looking committee to create a master plan that will guide decisions, shape investments, and outlive administrations in Oyo State.

“As I said in my remarks, this is serious work and will require active participation and my expectation is that members of both committees will put in their best to make these projects work for the good people of Oyo State.”
