Trump rages 'I'm not a paedo or a rapist' as White House 'shooter's' manifesto exposed

President Donald Trump launched a furious and forceful attack on a journalist after she quoted excerpts from the suspected gunman’s manifesto linked to the incident. The US President was attending the black-tie White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel when he was abruptly escorted from the venue by his security team.

Suspected gunman Norah Cole Allen reportedly sent a chilling anti-President Trump manifesto to his family shortly before opening fire on Saturday night, naming himself the “Friendly Federal Assassin.” He indicated that he was hell-bent on killing Trump administration officials. When CBS anchor Norah O’Donnell read aloud a document allegedly sent by Allen minutes before the attack, in which he referred to a “paedophile, rapist, and traitor,” Trump erupted in anger.

Trump told the reporter they “should be ashamed” and repeatedly described them as “horrible people”.

He said: “I was waiting for you to read that because I knew you would because … you’re horrible people. Horrible people. Yeah, he did write that. I’m not a rapist. I didn’t rape anybody. I’m not a pedophile. Excuse me. Excuse me. I’m not a pedophile. You read that crap from some sick person? I got associated with all — stuff that has nothing to do with me. I was totally exonerated.

“Your friends on the other side of the plate are the ones that were involved with, lets say, Epstein or other things. But I said to myself, ‘You know, I’ll do this interview and they’ll probably … read the manifesto’. But you should be ashamed of yourself reading that because I’m not any of those things.”

A Secret Service agent was hit but was protected by a bullet‑resistant vest and is expected to recover. The 31-year-old from California, will be formally charged at a hearing in Washington today.

On LinkedIn, Allen lists himself as a mechanical engineer, game developer, and teacher, and says he studied mechanical engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where he also participated in the Christian fellowship.

Buckingham Palace announced on Sunday that King Charles’s visit to Washington this week would still go ahead largely as planned.
