By Demola Akinyemi, Ilorin
The University of Ilorin has recorded a major academic milestone, with 16 of its law graduates earning First Class honours in the recently concluded final examinations of the Nigerian Law School.
In addition, 58 graduates from the institution obtained Second Class Upper division in the Bar Finals.
The University’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, disclosed the development in a statement made available to journalists in Ilorin.
He described the achievement as unprecedented in the history of the university’s Faculty of Law, noting that the previous highest number of First Class graduates was 10, recorded in 2023.
Akogun attributed the performance to sustained efforts toward improving academic standards and institutional support within the university.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing it as a significant moment for both the Faculty of Law and the university at large.
He noted that the results reflect the dedication and hard work of the students, as well as the academic environment provided by the institution.
The Vice Chancellor also commended all graduates of the Faculty who successfully passed the Bar examinations across various grades, urging them to uphold the values of professionalism and excellence in their future careers.
He encouraged the graduates to remain worthy ambassadors of the university as they advance in the legal profession.
