“We won’t join charade” – Sowore distances self, party from opposition summit

A publisher and human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore has stated his reason for declining the invitation to attend the Opposition Summit held in Ibadan, Oyo State on Saturday, April 25.
Sowore, in a post made on social media on Sunday said he did not attend the summit organised by leaders of various opposition parties because Nigerians deserve a genuine alternative and not a team of recycled politicians.
“I Declined the Ibadan “Opposition Summit” Nigerians Deserve a Genuine Alternative, Not Recycled Failure.
“I was invited to attend the so-called “Opposition Summit” in Ibadan, but I declined
“There is no need to pretend that the same men (and a few women) who held Nigeria to ransom for years, presiding over stagnation, corruption, and systemic decay, can suddenly reinvent themselves as champions of progress or defenders of the people,” Sowore said.
A chairman and presidential candidate of the AAC, Sowore noted that despite the challenges currently faced by citizens all over the country, not all Nigerians have forgotten those who contributed to this hardship
“Not all Nigerians are suffering from amnesia.
“For the avoidance of doubt, our revolutionary party, the African Action Congress (AAC), will not be part of any charade designed to recycle failed political actors under the guise of ‘opposition’,” he added.
He further stated that the members of the AAC and its leadership are committed to presenting a formidable, people-driven alternative, one rooted in integrity, accountability, and genuine transformation.
According to Sowore, he would mobilise Nigerians against the rot carried on by the ruling All Progressives Congress and “opportunistic” opposition leaders.
His words, “We will mobilise Nigerians across the country to rally behind a credible vision that rejects the decadence and deception represented by both the @OfficialAPCNg and their opportunistic counterparts in ADC, PDP, Labour Party and elsewhere
”Nigeria does not need a rearrangement of the same broken pieces, it needs a complete break from the past,” he said.
