World Malaria Day: Ikeja Electric Takes CSR Outreach To Lagos Communities

Ikeja Electric has reaffirmed its commitment to community health and well-being through targeted Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) interventions in Abule-Egba and Odogunyan communities in Lagos State.

The initiative was part of activities marking the 2026 World Malaria Day, themed “Driven to end malaria: Now we can. Now we must.”

The outreach focused on raising awareness and improving access to basic healthcare services, with residents benefiting from free malaria testing and treatment.

Participants also received antimalarial drugs, insecticide-treated mosquito nets, and educational materials aimed at promoting sustained prevention efforts.

Naija News understands that as part of the programme, residents were sensitised on the causes, symptoms, prevention, and early treatment of malaria.

They were also guided on practical measures such as the use of treated mosquito nets, proper environmental sanitation, and the importance of seeking prompt medical attention.

‘Beyond Electricity Provision’

In a press release made available to the public domain, the Head of Corporate Communications, Ikeja Electric Plc, Kingsley Okotie, said the company’s role extends beyond power supply.

“At Ikeja Electric, we recognize that our responsibility goes beyond providing electricity. We are committed to supporting the well-being of our customers through initiatives that promote healthier communities,” he said.

“This World Malaria Day outreach reflects our effort to equip residents with the knowledge and resources needed to prevent and manage malaria effectively.”

Okotie stressed the need for continuous awareness and partnerships to combat malaria.

“We believe that sustained awareness and access to preventive tools can significantly reduce the impact of malaria in our communities, and we will continue to collaborate with stakeholders to drive positive health outcomes,

” he added.

The company also urged residents to remain safety-conscious during the rainy season, noting the increased risk of electrical hazards.

Customers were advised to avoid contact with exposed wires, flooded electrical installations, and damaged infrastructure, while ensuring that household installations are properly secured against water exposure.

They were also encouraged to report safety concerns through the company’s emergency lines.

Reiterating its commitment to community engagement and safety advocacy, Okotie said the company remains focused on delivering meaningful impact.
