2027: Clergymen, Christian Groups pray for Mutu’s re-election
Describe Lawmaker as Strong Supporter of the Church
By Chancel Bomadi Sunday
BOMADI — Clergymen and Christian denominations across Delta State have offered prayers for the re-election of Nicholas Ebomo Mutu, the lawmaker representing Bomadi/Patani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
The prayers were said to have been organised in recognition of Mutu’s support for churches and Christian organisations over the years.
The lawmaker is reportedly facing political opposition ahead of the 2027 elections and the primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mutu, who has represented the constituency for several years, was described by supporters as a philanthropist with a record of infrastructural development and grassroots empowerment within and outside the constituency.
Among the Christian groups said to have prayed for him were the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), popularly known as White-garment churches.
Sources said several churches dedicated special prayer sessions for the lawmaker, asking for divine favour ahead of the 2027 elections.
A pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Burutu Local Government Area, who spoke anonymously, said the prayers were inspired by Mutu’s contributions to churches and Christian causes across the country.
According to the cleric, the lawmaker had supported church building projects, assisted congregations financially and empowered members of various churches.
“We, the Church of Christ, will continue to pray for him and ask God to guide and protect him,” the pastor said.
Another cleric from a White-garment church in Warri described Mutu as committed to both Christian causes and the welfare of his constituents.
Sources also disclosed that clerics from different Christian denominations gathered in Agbarho, Delta State, on Sunday to pray for Mutu’s emergence as the APC candidate and his success in the 2027 election.
