Popular Oyo State-based broadcaster and philanthropist, Oriyomi Hamzat, has expressed appreciation to supporters across Oyo State following his emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 governorship election, declaring that the “journey to a greater Oyo has begun.”

Hamzat had declared his intention earlier in January.

In a Tuesday statement released after his emergence, Hamzat described the wave of support from party stakeholders, followers, and residents across the state as both humbling and inspiring.

“I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me following my emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election in Oyo State,” he stated.

The veteran broadcaster said the moment transcends personal ambition, describing it instead as a collective movement driven by hope, justice, development, and people-oriented leadership.

“This moment is not just about me, it is about our collective hope for a better, safer, and more prosperous Oyo State.”

The Accord consensus gubernatorial candidate, Oyo State 2027 added: “The massive show of love and acceptance from party leaders, stakeholders, followers, and supporters across the state has strengthened my belief that together, we can build the future our people truly deserve.”

Hamzat further extended appreciation to the leadership of the Accord Party at both national and state levels, as well as individuals who have continued to stand by what he called a growing movement for positive change in Oyo State.

He said, “I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Accord, National and State, and every individual who believes in this vision of people-oriented leadership, justice, development, and progress.

“Your trust and confidence mean a lot to me, and I do not take this responsibility lightly.”

Addressing supporters directly, the Accord consensus candidate acknowledged what he described as the sacrifices, loyalty, prayers, and commitment of thousands of followers who have remained steadfast.

“To the thousands of supporters who continue to stand firmly with this movement, I say thank you. Your prayers, sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment will continue to inspire me throughout this journey.”

However, also in his statement he personally signed, Hamzat turned attention to the growing anxiety across parts of Oyo State following the tragic abduction incident in Oriire Local Government Area, where school children and teachers were reportedly attacked and some victims remain in captivity.

He said his thoughts remain with affected families and communities enduring fear and uncertainty.

“At this moment, my heart is also with the innocent children, teachers, and families affected by the tragic attack in Oriire Local Government. As some victims still remain in captivity, we share in the pain, grief, anxiety, and uncertainty their loved ones are going through.

“We continue to pray fervently for their safe and immediate return, while standing in solidarity with every affected family during this difficult time. No society can truly prosper where fear and insecurity threaten the lives of its people, especially our children and educators,” he stated.

Hamzat concluded the statement with a declaration of faith and optimism about the future of Oyo State, insisting that the movement represents a break from the old order.

“By the grace of God and with the support of the good people of Oyo State, we will work together to create a government that truly serves the people. The journey has begun. It’s not business as usual,” he concluded
