Afghan migrant ‘sexually assaults girl, 11, at knifepoint in special needs school’

An 11-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at knifepoint by an Afghan migrant. The reported attack took place in a toilet at a special needs school and the suspect has been arrested.

Authorities in Germany said the victim left her class at a school in Koblenz, in western Germany, to use the toilet on April 28. However, she was then attacked by two men before reporting the incident to her sister a few days later. She was reportedly in the toilet for around 20 minutes. It has been confirmed that one suspect, identified as Nassar S in local media, was arrested by police on Tuesday, May 5.

As reported by the Daily Mail, the victim’s family’s layer, Bilal Colak, said: “The girl told me that one of the two young men pulled down his trousers during the assault. A knife was also involved.”

According to the victim’s friends, there were two significantly older men in the school playground on the day of the attack. Police in Germany are still searching for the second suspect.

The alleged sexual assault has caused concern among parents in the area. They said some men in the area are “troublemakers” and are known for “specifically targeting young girls”.

Meanwhile, one mother, whose daughter attends the school, said: “If our children aren’t even safe at school anymore – where are they?” The school has since arranged counselling and support services for students.

Eveline Dziendziol, the spokeswoman for the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) in Trier which overlooks schools, said: “The school has established a crisis team. In addition to the school principal, this team includes school social workers, counsellors, school inspectors, the school authority, the school psychological service, and police representatives.”

The suspect is also accused of attacking a second girl. Kirsten Mietasch, Koblenz’s senior public prosecutor, said: “It is true that another criminal complaint has been filed against the accused for an alleged sexual offence.”
