Aiyedatiwa boosts Amotekun morale with health, pension benefits

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has approved a comprehensive welfare package for officers and men of the state’s security outfit, Amotekun.

The Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Hon. Idowu Ajanaku, said the initiative is aimed at boosting the morale of security operatives and strengthening their commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

As part of the package, Aiyedatiwa approved the enlistment of Amotekun personnel into the Ondo State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, allowing operatives and their families to access quality healthcare services.

Ajanaku described the move as a deliberate effort by the administration to improve the welfare and productivity of personnel at the forefront of the state’s security operations.

The governor also approved the issuance of Warrants of Service Enlistment to officers and personnel pending the completion of the required legal framework.

According to the commissioner, the decision will strengthen the institutional structure of the corps and improve operational efficiency.

Operatives will also benefit from the Contributory Pension Scheme and the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), in addition to the existing life insurance policy.

Ajanaku said the welfare initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to recognizing the sacrifices and dedication of Amotekun personnel in maintaining peace and security in Ondo State.

On security preparations for the festive season, he disclosed that 650 operatives have been strategically deployed across the state’s 18 local government areas to ensure adequate security before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

He assured residents that the government remains committed to proactive measures that will sustain peace and public safety.

The commissioner also revealed that the Ondo State Security Network Agency recently arrested 98 suspected criminals, including individuals posing as mentally ill persons who are allegedly linked to kidnapping and robbery activities in the state.

He said the arrests demonstrate the agency’s resolve to combat criminality and reinforce public confidence in the state’s security system.
