APC governorship aspirant alleges omission from primary list in Adamawa
Salihu Bakari, an aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa, has alleged that his name was omitted from the May 21 governorship primary list.
Bakari made the allegation during a press briefing on Saturday in Yola.
He stated that he had purchased the nomination form and participated in the screening, describing the omission as a breach of fairness, transparency, and due process.
“I duly purchased the nomination form, honoured the screening invitation, and successfully participated in the exercise.
“However, the list released omitted my name entirely without explanation or stated reason,” Bakari said.
He noted that some candidates were listed as “Not Cleared,” but his name was completely absent from the document.
Bakari said he received no notification of disqualification and was not invited before the post-screening Appeal Committee.
He said the omission raises concerns about fairness, transparency and equal opportunity in the party’s internal democratic process.
“It has effectively denied me the opportunity to participate in the exercise.
“The action is a breach of the Constitution, the Electoral Act and guidelines of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),” he said.
He said he had petitioned the APC National Chairman through the Adamawa APC Appeal Committee, seeking urgent intervention.
Bakari demanded a review of his omission and restoration of his name on a revised list of cleared aspirants.
He also called for a fresh primary election to enable his participation.
