APC Presidential Primaries: Tinubu wins in Cross River
President Bola Tinubu has emerged the winner of the presidential primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State.
Governor Bassey Otu, who served as the State Returning Officer and Coordinator, made the declaration in Calabar on Saturday.
He explained that the number of registered voters was 121,260 but 113,912 votes were cast.
Otu said that while President Tinubu scored 113,911 votes from the total vote cast, his opponent, Stanley Osifo, pulled zero votes.
He, however, noted that the final announcement of the overall winner of the primary would be made in Abuja.
He said: “As you can see, our work here is done, which is to announce what we had in Cross River.
“We shall transmit the results to Abuja, where it will be computed with results obtained from other states.
“We are pleased to announce Cross River result after a hectic day.
“As you all know, the topography of the State delayed the collation and subsequent announcement of this result.”
Peter Odey, Deputy Governor; Elvert Ayambem, Speaker of the state House of Assembly; and members of the National Assembly among others were present at the event.
