APC Primary: Porri pulls out of Bayelsa Assembly race + Video
Hon. Tare Porri, the lawmaker representing Ekeremor Constituency 1, has officially withdrawn from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bayelsa State House of Assembly primary contest.
The last-minute decision was announced on May 19, 2026, just hours before delegates were scheduled to vote, leaving the race wide open.
Porri, who was seeking the party’s ticket for a return to the Assembly, stated that his decision to “step aside” was made after extensive consultations with his family, constituents, local stakeholders, and party leaders.
Despite pulling out, the lawmaker praised the APC leadership for creating a level playing field.
He explicitly reaffirmed his loyalty to the party and vowed to work for the collective victory of whoever emerges from the primaries.
Furthermore, Porri thanked and pledged support to Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri, Deputy Governor Dr. Peter Akpe, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and state APC Chairman Warman Ogoriba.
“I remain committed to my legislative duties and to the party,” Porri said, appealing to his supporters to stay calm and dedicated.
He assured his constituents that he would continue to serve them until the very end of his tenure.
